(I am not perfect and I don’t claim to be and I am the worst at this!) The other day I was speaking to a friend and she made me think of an attitude that is unlike any other that I have ever had and that is the lack of fear of being BURNT! I know this is not a fearlessness I was born with, but something that was given to me by God. I actually think I said it without thinking before I spoke, which I seem to do often. However it meant a lot to me when I said it, because I felt like God was saying really Evan, I mean really, would you really charge Hell with a water pistol even if I didn’t rescue you and because of you only a few were rescued? This is something I have been thinking a lot about lately after reading the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the book of Daniel. The parts of scripture that stood out:
“But if you do not worship it (Nebuchadnezzar’s Image of Gold), you will be thrown immediately into a blazing furnace. Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?” Daniel 3:15b
“If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O King. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O King, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” Daniel 3:17-18
“”The King’s commands was so urgent and the furnace so hot that the flames of the fire killed the soldiers who took up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and these three men, firmly tied, fell into the blazing furnace.” Daniel 3:22-23
“Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, “Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?” They replied, “Certainly, O King.” He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.” Daniel 3:24-25
“They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.” Daniel 3:28
Are you willing to say that? Am I willing to say that? Are we willing to trust God even if he does not come through for us? I think these are questions that need to be asked! We so often think we are suppose to die peacefully in our sleep at a ripe old age, but I think from reading scripture and reading stories of missionaries that we are suppose to charge hell with a water pistol to save and rescue the lost and if we make it then Glory to God and if we get burnt and die, then Glory to God! See life is not walking through the land of paradise and this is not a vacation for God’s disciples, this is the day the Lord has made for us to get off our butts and put on the full armor in Ephesians and battle for the lives of the unsaved around us! I know, I know you are saying that this is easier said than done and I totally agree. However, with that armor we are equipped with everything needed to make it happen. So are you going to do it? Are you going to live completely surrendered to him? Are you ready? Put on the armor and lets go seek Glory for HIS name sake even if it is are way to pass!
Prayer: God change us into warriors that are you have prepared for battle today. Help us to seek you so much that when the fire comes we don’t even need a water pistol, we just need you! I pray that we would be will to set-up a rescue shop a yard from Hell as C.T. Studd would say and that we would live our lives on rescue missions for your names sake. After all, that is the least we can do for you giving it all!
